     Christu Jyothi started its journey in the year 1999 by the diocese of Neyyattinkara with the motto "Wisdom, Service and Love" and successfully completed 19 years with the ideology "Arise, Awake and stop not ill the goal is reached" I take this opportunity to thank almighty for the blessings and guidance bestowed upon our School.  Keeping the high standard of education our school aims to mould the students for holistic development and sincere commitment to society.  Our teaching faculty consists of a team of 45 highly qualified committed and experienced staff along with 35 supportive staff.  We have an enthusiastic team of teachers for Communicative English, Physical Education, Music, Band, Craft and Library.

 SCHOOL SYLLABUS

Our School is affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi.  We follow the CBSE syllabus prescribed by NCERT.

RE-OPENING DAY - The academic year 2019-20 commenced on June 6th Very Rev.Msgr.Alphonse Liguori our manager inaugurated the freshener's day by lighting the candle.  The customary 'candle light' ceremony has a deep intellectual and spiritual significance.  The 'Jyothi' signifies knowledge, which dispels ignorance and darkness.  Like the flame burning upwards our knowledge takes us towards higher ideals.  We focused on this year theme 'Ignite to enlighten'. The verses from the holy books were divinely recited.

EMPOWERMENT PROGRAMMES - To enrich and enhance the teaching skills and to update the teachers in various fields, we provide the facility to attend various seminars, workshops and orientation programmes.  During this academic year the following courses were organized.

1. Principal Sr.Manju participated in the State Conference of CBSE Principals conducted for two days based on the theme 'Changing Concept of Leadership in New Generation Schools - Priorities and Challenges'.

2. Dr.G.Manulal, Managing Director of CAREAPT organized a class on the 'Learning Outcomes" for teachers.

3. English faculties attended a two days course conducted by CBSE on 'Experiential Learning'.

4. Mathematics Teachers attended the Capacity Building Programme on 'Mathematics Class X'.

5. Science Teachers attended the Capacity Building Programme on 'Cyber Security'.  The about programmes had been organized by CBSE in association a Centre of Development of Advanced Computing.

6. Computer Department Teachers participated three days teachers training programme on 'Python - Theory & Practice' & 'Python - CS'.

7. Ten days continuous communicative skill development course for teachers were arranged.  Skyline Group Trivandrum conducted the course.

Teachers benefitted a lot through these mentoring workshops to improvise their teaching skills.

EMPOWERMENT PROGRAMME FOR STUDENTS

1. World Space Week - a Space Quiz Competition was arranged to educate the students about space technology.

2. An awareness programme on women's self defense techniques was held by Trivandrum Rural Vanitha cell in the presence of Valiyamala SI Suresh Sir.  The trainees displayed demonstration techniques for self defense for students.

3. We have a full time appointed councilor who gives guidance on personal and psychological problems faced by students.

 PTA - The first general body meeting of the PTA was held on July 13th.  An executive committee representing all classes was elected.  Mr.M.G.Dhaneesh was elected as the PTA President Mr.Sajimon as Vice President.  Mother PTA members too elected on the same day.  Smt.Lekshmi, Convener & Smt.Deepa as Joint Convener.  Once in every two months executive members gather to discuss the academic and co-curricular activities.  Their valuable suggestions are taken into consideration for the improvement of the student.  Class PTA was conducted before the half yearly examination.  Parents of slow learners were called for remedial measures.  For Higher Secondary section, three Parents Teachers meeting were conducted.

STAFF MEETING - Every month School Management Committee and teachers assemble together to assess and evaluate teaching methodology, discipline and important forth coming events.

CLUB ACTIVITIES - The School organized Heritage Club, Eco Club, GK Club, Disaster Management Club and Adolescences Club.  Every student from standard IV to XII is the member of a club and they sincerely contributed club programmes.

SCHOOL PARLIAMENTARY ELECTION - Aiming democratic awareness and leadership qualities we conducted an authentic election process.  The polling day was on June 28th.  Students from Class IV to XII marked their valuable votes in the ballot papers in a confidential and disciplined way.  Thus Vishwajith V J & M A Honey were elected as head boy and head girl for this academic year.

INVESTITURE CEREMONY & AWARD DAY - On the fine morning of July 19th the grand Investiture Ceremony was celebrated with great enthusiasm.  The newly elected parliament members were escorted by the musical band troupe.  The chief guest Sri Sunil Gopi SI of Nedumangad honoured and badged the prefectorial body and principal handed over the flag to them thus discharging the duties entrusted to them.  The senate members were adorned with sashes and took an Oath to work earnestly and follow the School Motto, Wisdom, Service and Love with loyalty & truth.

     Excellence in academic is the hallmark of any good institution.  Yes, another academic achievement conferred by our students, who appeared for AISSE Exam and AISSCE Exam secured 100% success.  Out of 22 students 13 secured Distinction and 9 students achieved first class in Class 12.  47 Distinction, 13 First Class, 18 secured more than 90% out of 60 students in class 10.

     We are indeed proud to crown Dilsha Shirin A and Anjali G S the top scorer of our School for their great accomplishment in AISSCE & AISSE who achieved 96%.  Meritorious awards were honoured to the students by Sunil Gopi SI of Nedumangad.   I congratulate all the students and may their life always be filled with successful moments.

CELEBRATION OF IMPORTANT DAYS - Special assemblies were conducted on regular basis to observe all the important national and international days.


THE WORLD ENVIRONMENTAL DAY -  was celebrated on June 12th, to promote a green consciousness among students and by providing a practical experience in raising saplings.  The day was made more renowned by planting saplings in the School Campus and saplings wee distributed to the students.

READING DAY - was observed on June 19th to inculcate the habit of reading.  Quiz Competition, Reading Competitions were organized.

ANTI CHILD LABOUR DAY - was organized on June 21st.  Students prepared placards, informative charts, slogans which were displayed in the assembly hall to abolish child labour.  Special speech was delivered by students.

INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY - was also celebrated on June 21st.  'Yoga is an invaluable gift of India's ancient tradition'.  Students demonstrated various asanas and the 'benefits of Yoga' was delivered during the assembly.

WORLD MUSIC DAY - 'Music plays a vital role in the overall, development of the chilren'.  Keeping this view in mind, World Music Day was also observed on the same day June 21st.  Through this event, the school created awareness among the children about the importance of music in our life.

KARGIL VIJAY DIWAS - was observed on July 26th with great patriotic fervor, to commemorate India's victory in the Kargil conflict.  Students lit a candle and offered prayers for the martyrs of Kargil War.  Patriotic Song was melodiously sung and filled every heart with great Patriotic feeling.  Principal Sister in her address enthused the students to be grateful for the great scarifies of the soldiers and further added that they should realize that while we sleep comfortably in our home, the soldiers stand around the clock guarding our borders.  Kargil Quiz Competition was held for students from standard V to XII.

SWATCH BHARAT DAY - was observed on August 27th.  'My Clean School' was the prime action on that day.  Students and teachers joined together to clean the School Campus.  Oath taking and hand wash demo by XII students highlighted the day.

WORLD OZONE DAY - To spread awareness about the ozone layer and search for solution to preserve it, XI students organized a special assembly based on the theme ' Global Warming is a Global Warning'.

WORLD TOURISM DAY - was observed on September 27th to promote tourism.  VIII standard students organized a knowledge filled assembly and students took an opportunity to address, how tourism can help to learn about different tourist sports in India.

WORLD RIVERS DAY - This day marked to create awareness about rivers and the necessity need to conserve rivers.  Students from V to XII prepared a class wise album.  The prime aim was to learn about the importance of water bodies and to ponder on the manmade threat against rivers.  Principal appreciated the efforts of the students and asked them to wake conscious efforts to save water and thus to save our planet earth.

FOOD AWARENESS DAY - On November 11th Class IX under the guidance of their class teacher arranged on awareness programme about balanced healthy nutritious food.  Food adulteration demo conveyed the impact of unsafe food.  Food Pyramid set up, gave an idea about food consumption.

WORLD YOUNG READERS DAY - 'Reading Sharpens the Mind' Based on this day 'Reading Corner' set up was arranged in all the classes from I to XII.  The main aim was to recognize the benefits and joy of reading as well as to promote reading habits among children.  Students collected different genres of literature in three different languages.

IMPORTANT EVENTS

ANNUAL ARTS FESTIVAL - Arts fest was organized on August 29th, 30th.  The grand inauguration was done by Cine Artist Sri.Kishore.  Varied competitive programs were held which was genuinely judged by judges.  All participants who secured first prize with A grade went to Sahodaya competition held at Bright Central School and I am indeed proud to announce that 54 students participated and secured 1st and 2nd prize in various items.  Athira S Vrinda (X), Fathima Nazrine (IV), Aleena Fathima (VI), Theertha Jayakumar (VII) attended state level competitions.

ANNUAL SPORTS DAY - Sports are the epitome of hard work and dedication.  Annual sports meet was conducted in the campus on September 19th & 20th.  Students participated in different events with the spirit of sportsmanship.  The function was inaugurated by SI of Valiyamala Sri.Suresh Kumar Sir.  The torch was lit by Chief Guest and handed over to Nevin Vincent Class X student.  The winners attended Sahodaya Sports Meet.  Our glorious participant bagged laurels by attaining overall runner up in Category - III (Boys) in Trivandrum Sahodaya Complex Annual Sports and games meet 2019 which was held at LNCPE Athletic Stadium , Karyavattom, Thiruvananthapuram.  Nevin Vinent S of Class X crowned as Individual Champion in Category III (Boys) with 3 gold 1 silver and two bronze medals.

EXHIBITION -  With the key objective of bringing out the hidden talents of students, an exhibition was organized on September 5th based on 'World Coconut Day'.  The main aim of the programme was to bring out the vital importance of this crop.  Information about its origin, botanical classification and nutritious value was explained by students.  Students actively participated and displayed many models, chart works, craft items, traditional exhibits made from different parts of coconut which gave them a platform to show out their talents and skills.  The exhibits were judged on their creativity and neat arrangement.

     Incredible in real sense mean unbelievable and it fits exactly to the magnificent exhibition named "Incredible India" held on 29th November 2019 at our school.  This grand exhibition showcased at the vivid images of rich cultures a tradition, classical dance forms, colourful festivals, breath taking art forms, various land forms, tourist destination political, physical maps and conditions of all the 29 states by our students, with great enthusiasm.  The projects were presented class wise from I to XII from Kashmir to Tamil Nadu.  The main objective is not only for skill development but also to learn more about our motherland and to develop the spirit of unity.

CELEBRATIONS

FATHER'S FEAST - Our students and staff along with Our Patron Rt.Rev.Dr.Vincent Samuel joyfully participated in the special celebration to honour our manager father on August 1st.  The campus was brimming with happiness and excitement.  It was a great privilege and joy for all the students to wish father and presented blossoming bouquets of flowers to our manager.  The whole community had a festive lunch our dear Father.

INAUGURATION OF SPORTS COURTS - August 1st marked another joyful event "the inauguration of 4 specific sports courts' - Volley Ball, Basket Ball, Badminton, Kho-Kho and Football courts.

INDEPENDENCE DAY - August 15th witnessed a great fervor of patriotism blended with an excitement for the 72nd Independence Day Celebration.  The students of the four houses showcased a glorious march parade.  The event commenced with the hoisting of the flag by Very Rev.Msgr.Alphonse Liguori, followed by cultural programmes.

TEACHERS DAY - On September 5th Teacher's Day was observed.  The students rendered their enthusiastic services as teachers and took over the day and entertained the teachers.  Students enacted as teachers and took over all the duties.  It was best experience for both teachers and students.

ONAM CELEBRATION - Onam marks the homecoming of the legendary king Mahabali.  The high spirit of the students reflected in the way they arranged an intricately designed flower carpet (Athapookalam) to welcome the Maveli.  The students were feasted with delicious Payasam and teachers shared and ambrosial Onasathya on September 6th.  Onam Kit was distributed to 75 less privileged members of our locality.  The programmes were arranged to show the rich cultural heritage of Kerala.

GANDHI JAYANTHI - To commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of the Father of Our Nation students celebrated Gandhi Jayanthi on October 2nd with great enthusiasm.  Various programs, enlisting speech, quiz competition & Gandhiji's portrait drawing competition were held.  An Oath was taken by students to follow the values of Gandhiji.  The highlight of the program was the 'Dandi March' enacted by the students.  The entire day was observed as 'Sevana Dinam'.

CHILDREN'S DAY - The birth anniversary day of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru was celebrated in our school in grant way with variety of programmes commemorating love and affection for the children.

CHRISTMAS CELEBRATION - Students celebrated the spirit of Christmas with joy and cheer.  The festivities included Christmas Carols, Santa Dance accompanied by spiritual message.  All the children enjoyed the beats of jingle bells and cakes were distributed to all the students.

MEDICAL CAMP - Free Medical Camp was arranged in our school campus by 'Population & Holistic Health Research Centre'.

TOUR PROGRAMME - Students of Class X & XII accompanied by the Principal and faculty members went on a memorable three day trip to Ooty, Mysore on November 5th, 6th & 7th.  Students of class V to IX were taken for one day trip to Wonderla.

CHARITABLE WORK - Service to others is one of the main values essential in human being.  Our school plays a vital role, developing these ethical values.

1. Notable sum amount was collected to help the security house construction.

2. Rs. 10000/- was donated for a child's medical help.

NALLAPADAM PROJECT - Nallapadam makes the students aware of the social issues and to lend a hand to the poor and needy.  This year Nallapadam Coordinators distributed donation boxes to each and every class rooms from 1st standard to 12th standard.  As a part of this project Rice Kit, Soap, Towels were collected for the less privilege people.
